While Drake is taking the slack for his dance moves, choreographers are applauding him. There are parodies of Drake dancing to legendary songs and opening themes like Sexual Healing, Home Improvement, and Charlie Brown. Memes I mentioned above in the first paragraph aren’t the only ones out there. Not only are Drake’s dance moves memorable in this video, they’re very Meme-able too. Drake addressed the accusation in an interview with FADER saying that ‘Hotline Bling’ is very similar to ‘Cha Cha’ and that all Dancehall artists are trying to do the same thing with “riddim.”Ĭritics have labelled him “The King of Dad Dancing,” according to an article written for the website Sugarscape.
Hotline Bling has also put him into question, not for the odd coordination of his hips, arms, and legs, but for copying the song “Cha Cha” from rapper D.R.A.M. After viewing this video, people were confused was this a joke that we were supposed to get, or is this really how Drake dances in the privacy of his own clubs? If you haven’t seen the video yet, what the heck are you waiting for? What’s the big deal? Well, his dance moves first of all. Memes and Gifs spread like wildfire across the internet, and by the end of the day “ihsklnfsalo jwka Hotline Bling” was stuck in everyone’s head. The video dropped on Monday, October 19, immediately – as most things do now a days – going viral.
